DC Srinagar, SSP visit Hazratbal Shrine; finalize arrangements for observance of Shab-e-Miraj | KNO

Srinagar Jan 14 (KNO): In connection with observance of upcoming Shab-e-Miraj (1447 Hijri), the Deputy Commissioner(DC) Srinagar, Akshay Labroo along with SSP Srinagar Sandeep Chakravarthy on Wednesday visited Dargah Hazratbal to take on site review of the facilities and arrangements being made by all line Departments for smooth conduct of the auspicious religious occasion. SSP Traffic Police, Aijaz Ahmad accompanied the DC during the visit. During the visit, the Deputy Commissioner along with the Officers took a comprehensive department wise review of the arrangements being put in place during auspicious days of Shab-e-Miraj particularly with regard to electricity and water supply, sanitation and cleanliness measures, firefighting service, transport, parking and medical facilities etc. The DC directed the Officers of all line Departments to ensure special arrangements for smooth observance of the religious occasion at the Shrine for the Devotees particularly during the intervening night (Shab) and on Friday Following. The DC stressed the need for close coordination among all line departments to ensure peaceful, seamless and hassle-free observance of Shab-e-Miraj. He directed the concerned departments to ensure adequate arrangements for the convenience of devotees. Emphasis was laid on uninterrupted power and water supply, effective sanitation, efficient traffic management, proper food safety measures, adequate healthcare facilities and elaborate security measures. To ensure availability of adequate transport facility, the SRTC and RTO were instructed to make better transport arrangements particularly during night and wee hours for the devotees during the auspicious days of religious occasion. It was emphasized to make availability of e-Rickshaws from parking slots to Shrine for elderly people. With regard to power supply, the DC asked the PDD Engineers to ensure uninterrupted power supply at the Shrine during the auspicious days of night prayers as well as on the day of display of Holy Relic and keep proper power backup to tackle any power breakdown. Similarly, the DC directed the Jal Shakti authorities to ensure adequate water supply at the Shrine so that devotees do not face any inconvenience. He instructed them to keep a sufficient number of water tankers at the premises to cater to the demand. Likewise, the DC asked the SMC Officers to deploy sufficient men and machinery at the venue to ensure proper cleanliness in and around the Shrine. They were also instructed to take measures for establishment of mobile toilets besides a concrete mechanism to contain stray dog menace in and around the Shrine. The DC also laid stress on making all dysfunctional Street/Mass lights functional well before the commencement of the Holy religious occasion. The Health authorities were asked to set up a Medical camp with adequate number of doctors and paramedics, besides an ambulance service and other first aid facilities in the premises of Hazratbal Shrine as per past practice to provide medical facilities at the Shrine. SSP Srinagar and SSP Traffic also shared their views on the occasion with regard to smooth and peaceful conduct of the religious occasion. Earlier, the DC was apprised by the Executive Magistrate, J&K Wakf Board about the arrangements being made by the Wakf Board for smooth observance of the Holy religious occasion during which thousands of people are expected to visit to take a glimpse of the Holy Relic and offer special prayers. Meanwhile, the Deputy Commissioner also stressed on making elaborate arrangements at Jenab Sahab Soura—(KNO)
